PROJECT DESCRIPTION - TESTIMONIAL

Project Description :
French Country in the Making

Working closely with Rhonda & John, Pinnacle’s solution was to enlarge the main floor area, create open spaces, provide ample storage lockers to the rear entry, implement a decidedly French Country theme to the kitchen & bath areas and create an overall impact of elegance.

Partnering with an architectural-design firm & kitchen designer, the Pinnacle Group began the process of a complete makeover. In order to capture the square footage required for the desired space a 7-foot extension was added along the back of the kitchen area, while 4-feet was added along the living/dining area. The addition came complete with transom windows and a set of custom 84” high solid-fir garden doors, which now lead to a wonderful new rear-yard courtyard.

The ‘closed in’ feeling was dealt with by eliminating the bearing walls and in their place a set of engineered, full-span beams were installed to support the second storey through the kitchen and dining room areas. A complete re-configuration of the back door entry and laundry area was implemented to give way to the new laundry area…complete with Subzero upright freezer along with custom-designed lockers for each member of the family.

Rhonda had a very clear idea as to the overall direction of her kitchen & bath areas providing Pinnacle with many wonderful magazine pictures. One particular request was that Pinnacle would build a combination of custom curved columns; one set placed on each side of the 36” Wolf upper range-vent canopy; another 6 curved columns supporting the granite eating bar; the final set was placed on each side of the living room fireplace; the adjacent rooms now have a subtle, yet complimentary design connection.

The primary cabinetry received brush-stroke glazing finish on a soft crème base, a custom hood canopy above the Wolf range, along with anodized-wire inserts on the upper doors. Granite counters together with travertine tile backsplash, along with an ‘apron’ style undermount kitchen sink added the horizontal and vertical details, while the kitchen ceiling was given 5” veined cladding adding the final touch of ‘country.’

Another request was to install custom leaded glass inserts behind the Wolfe range backsplash area as well as in the interior transom windows. Adding to the custom touch, Pinnacle was able to incorporate a custom cappuccino stain to the island and hutch areas to match our client’s existing dining room table & chair set.
From an appliance perspective, a 36” Sub Zero refrigerator, 36” Slide-in Wolfe gas range, Meile dishwasher, Meile cappuccino maker, flat-screen TV & custom sound system were all seamlessly integrated into the kitchen space.
The final main floor touch was installing a custom front entry door in solid, vertically-veined fir, punctuated with ‘nail pegs’, along with a cappuccino stain, all specifically designed to integrate an elegant ‘Old World’ touch to the ‘French Country’ theme.

Rounding out the renovation was an elegant update in all three baths. The main floor powder room received a custom free-standing vanity with vessel sink and wall-mounted faucet, the main bath was given the brush-stoke glazed cabinetry with a complete wainscoted tile detail.

In the ensuite our client once again referenced a magazine photo to Pinnacle, and requested that custom ‘table leg’ columns be incorporated on each side of the center ensuite vanity cabinets. The entire ensuite once again carries the French-Country theme complete with his & hers tower amenity cabinets placed on granite counters, punctuated with an undermount sink and an 8” center dual control faucet. The custom shower received a flat-cut river-rock tile base, shampoo shelves and was completely wrapped in a frameless 10mm clear glass enclosure. Veined and capped wainscoting once again provided the subtle country feel, while one final touch of elegance was subtly placing ‘rope-lighting’ behind the valanced toe-kick area.

Renovating Rhonda and John’s home with the detail they had so clearly defined ended up providing an overall feel of elegance, yet with a distinct element of warmth for the whole family to enjoy. Having completed their renovations in two phases over a period of two years is a testament to this family’s resilience, and willingness, to temporarily disrupt the use of their home, in order to transform the way they live and entertain in their newly renovated surroundings.

After working with Paul and the Pinnacle Group to renovate two of our bathrooms, we knew, without a doubt, that we had found the right person and company to embark upon a much larger renovation. Key issues in our decision making were ability and flexibility to "make" ideas work, a firm timeline, professional trades and fair pricing.

Armed with many ideas and even more requirements, we asked Paul and his team to help us formulate and execute a plan. Paul started on the date he promised and finished on the date he predicted. This in itself made such a large renovation, often a huge barrier in anyone's decision, much easier to live through. Paul always expects only the best work from his trades and his hands on approach ensures only the very best in quality and workmanship in the finished product. Throughout and since the completion of the renovation, we felt very comfortable addressing any issues with Paul, always being considered fairly and with respect.

We have since highly recommended Paul to many people and would continue to do so. The results speak for themselves, as we now have a beautiful home that is fully functional for our family and continue to have great respect and admiration for Paul, Pinnacle Group and the great work that they do.
