A Renovation to Allow a Family to Stay in Their Beautiful Home

Project Overview

Having attended a variety of Pinnacle events and been referred by close friends, this client family was familiar with Pinnacle’s solid reputation prior to our first consult. They were contemplating whether they should stay in their existing home or relocate to a property that would better support their current lifestyle needs. After several in-depth discussions with Pinnacle’s team and the completion of a feasibility study, it was determined that staying and renovating would be the best choice; the findings further identified the pros of the current property which were plentiful, including the location, green space amenity and stunning city and mountain views. It was also determined that the complete home renovation could be achieved within favourable investment parameters.

Project criteria
  • Re-design the main floor to create an open concept floorplan.
  • Capture views of the panoramic city and mountain views.
  • Refresh the upper and lower levels.
  • Improve the curb appeal.
Meeting the criteria

The renovation of this two storey home required gutting the main floor and undertaking an incredible engineering feat of dropping the floor so that the previously raised front foyer and kitchen would all be on the same level; this was accomplished by completely removing the floor system in the centre third of the main floor and rebuilding it to the same level. This created immense design opportunities including opening up the main floor allowing for uninhibited site lines of the expansive windows that now showcase the incredible 180 degree city and mountain views.

Pinnacle Custom Cabinets built the shaker style cabinetry in the kitchen that also features a large island with a radius table, allowing for substantial seating. The centrepiece of the great room is an impressive linear fireplace with an asymmetrical hearth and mantle detail. The rear entry now boasts a spacious mudroom and laundry room and a relocated powder room. All lighting was replaced with an energy efficient LED system, inclusive of the kitchen pot lights. A full exterior renovation will also be completed which will include a hardy board siding combo with baton and stone work and a new front step, dramatically improving the curb appeal. The upper level will include refinishing the flooring, millwork and paint and a cosmetic refresh of the lower level will be completed.

Once finished, this renovation will have completely transformed this home into a sanctuary that allows the homeowners to fully enjoy the incredible location and views that swayed them to stay and remodel the home. The new design will enhance their lifestyle and ensure they enjoy their home for years to come.
