A Home Addition to Meet Their Lifestyle Needs
Project Overview
This client family contemplated whether to renovate or relocate for several years. They loved their premium lot location in Riverbend and their neighbours. As well, they had invested in a significant exterior landscape package to enjoy the incredible river scenery surrounding their home. However, their current floorplan no longer met their needs; the main floor was not conducive to their entertaining lifestyle nor were the windows scaled to encompass the phenomenal view. After an in-depth discussion with Pinnacle’s team, the client was thrilled to learn a side yard addition was achievable and this became the convincing factor to renovate.

- Re-design the main floor to create spaces that support entertaining.

- Create dedicated laundry, mudroom and butler’s pantry.
- Refurbish existing wood burning fireplace.
- Create accessible main floor powder room for visiting disabled family member.

How the Criteria Was Met
The renovation of this two-storey home required gutting the main floor and creating an engineering masterpiece with the side yard addition which resulted in a full 4 ft. bump out. This allowed for the complete re-design of the main floor that now boasts an impressive kitchen island and dining space that embraces entertaining. Wall to wall windows were installed to give justice to this premium lot’s enviable river views. The interior transformation now matches the estate feel of this home’s surroundings. The site line rich layout also required changing the orientation of the staircase from a winding staircase to a classy, straight staircase. After assessing the over-sized double attached garage, it was determined that 2.5 ft. of garage length could be used to design an expansive mudroom, walk through pantry and accessible powder room with a 3 ft. doorway that seamlessly flows from the garage entrance.
The existing wood burning fireplace was replaced with new masonry while reclaiming some of the original brick. The upper level master suite was fully reconfigured, creating an exquisite ensuite and walk-in closet. Once finished, this transitional style renovation will have completely transformed this home allowing the homeowners to entertain with pride and fully enjoy the stunning location and
views. The new design will enhance their forward thinking lifestyle and the end result will be a home they always desired, created with minimal disruption to the lot, within their budget parameters, allowing them to stay in the community they have loved for many years.
