Completing a Home Transformation to Reflect Their Family Lifestyle
Project Overview
The homeowners had Pinnacle renovate their lower level a few years prior and decided it was now time to transform their top two floors. This original 1980’s build had several design flaws that required attention in the second phase of this renovation. Completing the restoration on the remaining floors meant the entire home would be a true reflection of this client family’s lifestyle throughout.
Project Criteria
- Improve the work-flow in the kitchen.
- Match the existing slate flooring in the kitchen.
- Replace select windows and doors.
- Update the colour palette throughout the main and upper floors.
- Modernize the main floor powder room.
- Create a relaxing retreat in the master ensuite.
How the Criteria Was Met
To begin with the kitchen was gutted including the corner pantry and pencil shaped island, to eliminate the restrictive corridors. This improved the work flow considerably, allowing all family members to enjoy spending time together to prep, cook and clean in the newly re-configured space. The kitchen now boasts floor to ceiling custom cabinetry, built-in professional grade appliances and an abundance of special features such as magic corners and pull-out dishware drawers with organizer roll-out trays.
Guests can now feel pampered in the stylish main floor powder room that features a charming, custom furniture-style vanity. The upper floor ensuite showcases the best of elegant, rustic design, incorporating re-claimed barnwood walls and a sliding barn-style door. Custom vanities were also built for this bathroom and the tile and countertops replaced, transforming this space into a relaxing retreat.
Many windows and doors were replaced in this home, including the front door which completes the welcoming front foyer. In addition, the colour palette was updated on both floors, the railings were sprayed out and the existing slate flooring was matched in the kitchen.
The final result showcases a timeless, transitional look with a hint of urban farmhouse flair, creating a forever home for this client family!
